In the closed down Völklingen Ironworks, once the most modern site of steel production, exploitative, contaminating, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, red dust trickles down on enclosed plants that form their own self-sufficient microcosm. Will the pioneer species survive? After 2 months, the human-made construction collapsed under the weight of the dust coming from the machine. The microcosm has become a desert.
